June Fancy Food Box Review

The Fancy Food box is one of my favorite subscriptions right now. It is one of the many offered by thefancy.com , and this one specializes in food. It costs $39 a month plus shipping, but the value always exceeds the cost by a considerable amount.  I don't think there are any coupon codes for it right now, which saddens me.
I think this box is always red.
Rufus Teague Honey Sweet Sauce ($7)- I needed a new barbeque sauce to discover, so this came in the perfect time! It is pretty sweet, but not overwhelmingly so.  I might make some barbeque stuff with it next week.

Morris Kitchen Ginger Syrup ($12.00)- I tried this on its own, and it was super strong! But that is not the way it is meant to be consumed. You can make many things with this like your own ginger ale, even some weird relaxing tea thing.  I love ginger ale a lot, so I am happy with this.

Tin Mustard ($7)- Dang! This mustard is really potent. And I don't know what I'll use it on.
Rick's Picks Handy Corn Relish ($10)- Let me start out by saying that this does not look appetizing one bit. But it tastes pretty good. I may just use it in place of relish.

Cookie Assortment by the Cravory ($2)- I don't know why it says assortment on the card, because it is just one cookie. Anyways, I got lemon flavor, and it was slightly squished from the mailing.  But the taste was fantastic! I often find that lemon flavor things taste too sugary, and this had the perfect amount, and it tasted awesome.

Salty Road Vanilla Salt Water Taffy ($6.50)- I am a bit dissapointed that I didn't get the salty carmel flavor, but these candies are still tasty.  I like that they have some saltiness to them.

Pop Chomper ($14)- I actually really like this! The wood scares me though, as it feels a bit splintery.  I don't know if I would pay fourteen bucks for this, so I guess I am glad it came in this box!

The total value of this box is about $58.50.  This is a bit low for this box, but I was happy with the products. I am thinking about skipping out on the next box because my refrigerator is running out of room for all this stuff. These are full size jars with lots of food that takes a long time to use. I am still working on the salsa from the first box!

Verdict: The fancy food box is probably my favorite subscription from the fancy.

May Tyler Florence Fancy Box Review

This box shipped late in the month as far as fancy boxes go! This is usually the time where June box start to ship.  On to the box, the Tyler Florence Fancybox is one of the many subscriptions offered at The Fancy. This one is curated by Tyler Florence, and usually contains things cooking or food related. Like all fancy boxes, it costs $39 plus shipping. It is also supposed to have a value of at least eighty dollars.

My favorite fancy box right now is the food one, but that could change over time.  I am expecting the food one early this month, so unless a situation like this occurs, expect a review for that soon!

I don't think there are any coupons right now for the fancy, but when I find one, I'll let you guys know.  First there were 25 off, then 20, maybe they'll go down even further. I hope not, I like high saving coupons!

Now this box has its own box design, and I really like it!
Prepara Herb Savor ($20)- I hate it when fresh herbs go to waste, because this happens so often.  So this will definitely go to use.  The only part I am worried about is how much room this takes up. Tyler said on the back of the card that this fits in a refrigerator door, but the problem is that I don't have much room in my refrigerator door!

Egg/Pancake Fry Rings ($15)- I think I got this at an at seen on tv store a REALLY long time ago. As for the usefulness, I will probably use them, but I might just forget about them.
Apron Guide ($26)- Dangit Fancy! Now I have two of these, because it was also in the Fancy food box for this month. The bad part about this is that this isn't the first time that this has happened. They often have duplicate items, and people always complain about it. You'd think they would learn from their mistakes. I contacted the customer care, and I'll see what they do. Fancy is usually pretty fond of giving away gift cards when this happens.

Tilt Mug ($13)- This is my favorite item in the box! First of all, I like the simplicity of the design. But the main point of this mug is to steep tea. You put tea into a infuser that comes in it, then add hot water, add the tea, and tilt! The tilting infuses the tea for you. You can also infuse at different levels by positioning the infusers in different ways depending how strong you want it. This will be used!

The total value of this box is $74. This doesn't meet the eighty dollar mark, so that is a little disappointing. But I do like most of the products, and I would like the apron if it wasn't a duplicate item.

Verdict: Not as good as last month, debating on cancelling or not.

May Fancy Box Review (Original)

The Fancy Box is one of the many subscriptions owned by the Fancy right now.  But this is the original subscription, and it works a little different than all the other ones.  First of all, it is a universal box in the sense that essentially anyone can subscribe. This is because when you first subscribe, they give you a list of categories to check off.  You can check off as many categories as you please, some include: men's, kids, home, gadgets, and media.  Then there is an option to add any special notes. And then you have your own customized subscription

If anyone is wondering, for this box, I choose Men's, Gadgets, and Home for my categories.

Like all fancy boxes, this costs $39 a month plus shipping.  I am not sure if the coupon 20OFF16 is working, so someone please tell me in the comments!

This box came in a darker green than usual.
F@#K the Time Watch ($95)- Holy moly, this watch was like double the cost of the box! That always makes me happy. As for the watch, it is OK. I think it is kind of ironic to say eff the time on a watch, but that is probably the humor in it. It isn't to explicit because you can't really read it from far away which is nice.

Milo Micro-Suction Smartphone Stand ($18)- This seems like a pretty high quality stand.  I haven't bought one of these yet, so that is awesome! I think this would be perfect when cooking while reading off a recipe!

Mizu Fancy Water Bottle ($18)- I was relieved when I read that this was dishwasher safe, because I HATE washing bottles by hand. This also seems really high quality. It sure will get a lot of use, since I am in need of water bottles since mine are constantly breaking.

Selection Decanting Pourer ($13)- This little gadget aerates your wine. I gave this to my father and he loves it! So I am happy this didn't go to waste.

The total value of this box is about $144! Holy value gods! This is one of the highest values I've ever received in a box. And most of the items will be used. When I choose the men's category, I was scared of getting just pocket squares and ultra-bright socks and stuff. This stuff is perfect and I can see how it would fit into all the three categories I choose!  And it seems that I received a completely different box from everyone else this month, even the people that choose the same categories. So when I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of things I'd never seen before!

Verdict: Awesome box! All fancy subscriptions are seemingly getting more awesome.

May Fancy Food Box Review + $20 Off Coupon

Everyone jump for joy! Subscription box season (the 10th to the end of the month) is starting.  And my season started with one of my favorite boxes of all time, the Fancy Food box. This is one of the many subscriptions that The Fancy offers. Some other Fancy boxes include: the Jennifer Love Hewitt  Coca Rocha, and Ashton Kutcher A+ Box.  So far, the food one is definitely my favorite, probably because I love food so much (but you probably couldn't tell).

All fancy subscriptions cost $39 a month plus shipping. The food box doesn't ship internationally  but the other ones do, not sure about the Tyler Florence one because that could have food in it.  Use code 20OFF16 to get $20 off any box!
'
All fancy boxes come in a cubical 10x10x10 box
Sir Kensington Chipotle Mayonnaise ($10)- This is tasty! I am a huge fan of pretty much anything spicy, so this appealed to me a great deal.  It is a great way to add zing to anything normal mayonnaise would taste good on!

Dave's Gourmet Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce ($9)- I usually find butternut squash too sweet to go with a main course, but this had the perfect amount of sweetness. It not only had squash, but it also had some garlic and marinara flavor also.

(2) Chocolate Mexicano Discs ($9)- I really liked the texture of these. It almost tasted granual-y, but in a good way.  The quality also was great. If you're wondering, they came in a vanilla flavor, and a salted almond flavor.

Field Trip Teriyaki Beef Jerky ($6)- Am I the only one who gets super excited when they see beef jerky in a subscription box? No, OK? Only me? Whatever.  Well, I wish these had a bit more zing, but the quality was awesome, like most items in this box.
(2) 479 popcorn in Black Truffle White Cheddar (big bag) and Salted Caramel (little one) ($5.41)- These are delicious! I have to say that the truffle is better than the carmel in my opinion.  The caramel tasted pretty ordinary, while the truffle tasted truly unique.

Apron Cooking Guide ($25)- This is actually pretty neat. On the bottom of the apron, there are upside-down instructions like weight conversions and cooking times, so you can read them while you cook! I will actually use this because I often end up looking up conversions online while cooking. This will make the job much easier.

The total value of this box is about $64.41. This is a pretty great value, especially if you used the coupon. Plus, most of these things aren't readily available in stores. This is truly one of my favorite boxes now!

Verdict: This box is fricken amazing!

April Verbal Fancy Box Review

Moar Fancy Box subscriptions! This one is from a member of the Teriyaki Boyz, Verbal.  I'll admit, I got this mainly because Verbal is Asian, and I know he once made a song with boA (a korean artist), and I love boA! This box is supposed to specialize in super fun things. I also love subscription boxes if you couldn't tell by now.

Like most Fancy Boxes, this costs $39 a month plus shipping and is guaranteed to have at least an $80 value. Way back when 25 off codes existed, I got this box because I just wanted to try it.  I will probably cancel after this month, but who knows, I just may resubscribe again. This box also ships internationally, but it will cost more than the $7 (I think) that I payed for shipping.

As always, Fancy included little cards for each item detailing why the curator picked them and a short description about the item.
Alcohol Shotgun ($19)-I had a little double-take when i took this out of the box. I found it weird that the main selling point for this was that it was "finally" a gun that could shoot alcohol. Then I thought "can't a water gun do the exact same thing?". Turns out it can.  And this only holds a shot, so yeah. Meh item.
Oscar Wilde Quote Reusable Tote Bag ($15??)- I can't find this anywhere online, or on the fancy. Plus, I kinda, maybe, lost the card for it, oops. That being said, I am not sure how I will use it.
Colour Me Good Hip Hop Coloring Book ($18)- I don't know why this was in here, when it was in the P!nk box for last month.  It even has the P!nk card for it. I contacted Fancy and they gave me a $20 gift card! And they responded to my e-mail in like 30 minutes which is super fast for this company.  Anyways, I actually like this, and I have some friends that would adore this!

A Set of  Mr. and Ms.Who? Playing Cards ($25)- On The card it said these were supposed to be black. But mine were just normal white ones :(. What makes these cards special is that they have social icons on the face cards like Michael Jackson, and Lady Gaga. They are OK, since I don't use playing cards that often.

This value of this box is about $77.  If I underestimated the value of the tote bag a little, then the value is fine.  I was just disappointed with some of the products. So I canceled this one and got the normal fancybox for next month, which I am looking forward to!

April Tyler Florence Fancy Box Review

Fancy has so many subscriptions now, and this is their most recent one.  This is the first Tyler Florence Fancy Box, and it was pretty awesome, so I signed up for another month.  All Fancy subscriptions so far cost $39 dollars a month, plus shipping.   A coupon code for twenty dollars off was going around recently (it was 20OFF14, and I used it to buy this box for next month), but I tried to use it again and it would not work.

All of the fancy boxes also have a promised value of at least 80+ dollars worth of stuff (except for the food one).  I find it weird that the one I like the most (the food one) is the one with the lowest value, I guess I just love food that much. I expected this box to have cooking supplies, a cookbook, and some food item, and I wasn't too far off!  I also love that fancy includes a little card for each product with a picture, a short description, and a note from the curator on why they choose it.
I am really enjoying these new colored fancy boxes!
Sunny Side Out Egg Separator, also called pluck ($13)-  I personally don't have a hard time separating eggs, but this might make the whole experience cleaner, per say.  Sometimes the whites get all over my counter, so, on second thought, this may be useful. It is also dishwasher safe, which is always a plus.
Brass Knuckles Meat Tenderizer ($15)- How Clever! A meat tenderizer that has you use your fists.  This is pretty darn cool, and it will be used.

Sparq Whiskey Rocks ($20)- I always pass by these on kickstarter, and think about buying them but never actually do.  So I was very happy to see these in my box! I hate how water waters beverages down.
Tyler Florence "Fresh" Cookbook ($35)-  When I first pulled this out, I just thought "Well cookbooks always come in handy." But when I read Liz's review of this, I found out it was signed by Tyler Florence himself on the inside cover! Now that I looked inside, the recipes in it sound really awesome.

The total value of this box is $83.  These are also products you wouldn't find anywhere, especially the signed cookbook. So overall, this box was super awesome!

Verdict- The Tyler Florence Fancy Box is one of the best fancy subscriptions in my opinion!

April Fancy Gourmet Food Box Review

thefancy.com now offers a number of subscription services for all types of people.  All of them seemed interesting to me, but this food box piqued my interest the most because, well, its food, and I LOVE food.  This box normally costs $39 plus shipping, and it does not ship nationwide (but the other fancy boxes do).  I am not sure if there is a coupon right, now since I can't find one, but there may still be a 25 off one out there. This price seems very high, and it is, but it the value for these boxes are usually higher and the products so far have been pristine! The box from this month came a little late for me, but I think it was definitely worth the wait!

Since I was waiting for a coupon until the cutoff date, I unfortunately will most likely not get the box for next month *sigh*. But hey fancy *nudge nudge* *wink wink*, I wouldn't be mad if you sent next month's box to me, just find my contact info in the tab above ;).

I really like this  new snazzy green box!
Charlito's Cocina Dry Cured Black Truffle Sausage ($13.33)- I seemed to have gotten this instead of the ham, but I am not unhappy in the slightest bit! This sausage is delicious.  You can really taste the truffle in it.  It would probably taste great with cheese, or wine ;).

Stem Citrus Spritzer ($7)-  I feel like this will come in handy if I ever need something that needs a little citrus to it. It is a very interesting idea, and works pretty well and is easy to use.
Divine Brine Pickle Relish ($4)- This has an interesting flavor and I am undecided if I like it yet. I just don't know what to use it for yet. I'll just try to use it in place of normal relish sometime.

Mina Harissa Mild Red Pepper Sauce ($10.50)- This kinda tastes like a mixture of sriracha and salsa.  I tend to lean towards sriracha for all of my hot sauce needs, but I will try this. I wish it was spicier, but it tastes great with tortilla chips!

Zoe's Chocolate Co's the Pretzel Bar ($7.50)- The chocolate in this is really high quality, and that is what makes it so good in my opinion.  The pretzels add a really nice salty element to the chocolate.
Bobbysue's Original Nuts ($3.50)- These nuts are great, they taste somewhat sweet and savory.  The bag makes it a great snack to grab out of your backpack in class. I also like the nice mix of nuts in it.

Dave's Madagascar Vanilla Coffee Syrup ($11)- This was the highlight of the box for sure! I tried a spoonful of it and immediately fell in love.  It tastes like really good coffee, with some bitter tones to it; but it is sweet enough to eat with anything! Amazing.

The total value of this box is approximately $56.83.  This is a little lower than last month's but still worth it in my opinion.  I loved all the products in here to! This may be one of my favorite subscription boxes now!

Verdict- This is an amazing box with a great variety of full-sized items to try.

March Ashton Kutcher A+ Fancy Box

The A+ box Plus is a kinda new fancy box subscription curated by Ashton Kutcher. This fancy subscription was the first one to be celebrity curated I believe. I think there are a total of 7 subscriptions offered by thefancy.com now!

Ashton said that he was curating "the dopest stuff on Fancy." And each box is promised to have at least an $80 dollar value. I don't quite understand how the shipping on fancy subsriptions work, but I am sure someone does. A lot of the times boxes ship late, but that isn't too big of a deal in my opinion. My box came a little later than other people's that I know of.

This box costs 40$ a month plus shipping. All fancy boxes (except the food one), ship internationally, so shipping costs varies. It was around $7. There are almost always $25 off coupons for the fancy, and the one working right now is 25OFF6. Depending on when you are reading this, it could change to 7, 8, etc.
I like how fancy sends info cards about everything in the box, and I really like the cube box!

Pilot and Captain Tokyo Shirt ($32)- I am really glad that this fits me, because the design of it is pretty cool. I asked fancy why they automatically sent me a men's large, and they replied by asking me my shirt size, gender, and mobile device. So if you plan on buying a fancy box, make sure to tell them that!

Winestein ($20)- This is really interesting. It's kinda wierd to me, because don't people want to feel classy when drinking wine? Maybe not, but this feels super thin, and I am scared of it breaking constantly. In fact, there was a little crack in it, so I contacted fancy, and they gave me a $25 gift card which I paired with the $25 off code to get the Verbal Fancy Box and the Tyler Florence ones for about $18!
2 Duke Cannon Big @ss Bricks of Soap ($7 each)- These soap bars are actually pretty big. About 3x normal bars, so they make really loud sounds when you drop them in the shower. I really like the scent on these also.
C.I.A Manual of Trickery and Deception ($15)- This book seems interesting, so I'll read it eventually.

The total value of this box is about $80 dollars, so the value is pretty good. I wasn't blown away by this box, but I did like most of its contents.

Verdict- It is kind of a gamble, but at least try it once.

March Fancy Box Food Review

The Fancy Food box is a monthly subscription service offered by the thefancy.com. Fancy currently offers several subscription boxes. The normal one, Ashton Kutcher, P!nk, and Coca Rocha Boxes. I stumbled across a coupon on mysubscriptionaddiction.com for $25 off one box (not available any more). I decided to get the food box because I am a full fledged foodie.

This fancy box regularly costs $39 monthly plus shipping. For me shipping was only $2, so with the coupon code I only paid $17 dollars for this box. The contents of this box were so awesome, I want to keep my subscription. Even though I was a little skeptical at first, this box was totally awesome!

I also wanted to mention how fast this box shipped! I got a shipping notification email Friday night and got the box Saturday morning! Really nice surprise!

The contents of the box with retail value:

Toasted Almond Biscotti by Biscottie Di Vechio ($9.95)- This came with 8 pieces of fairly large biscotti! The only ingredients in this were flour, sugar, lemon zest, and almonds. I am usually not a huge fan of biscotti, but this was really good. You could really taste all the ingredients.

The Tropical by The Brooklyn Salsa Company ($7)- I had a gigantic bag of tortilla chips I just bought, so this fancy box came just in time. It is pretty good for a less chunky salsa. I really liked the addition of fruits like oranges and coconut milk.

Passion Flower Serenitea ($15)- Ah, what food subscription box would be complete without tea! I haven't tried this yet but it seems interesting. It isn't caffeinated so I can drink it before bed.

Qginger Ginger Ale ($2 when bought in a pack of 24)- Dangit Fancy Box! I might never be able to drink "normal" ginger ale ever again! I love ginger ale and this was fantastic. It had a pretty strong ginger taste unlike other ginger ales. It wasn't too sweet either. I couldn't drink it all in one sitting because the ginger taste was really strong, but in a good way.

Qkola Cola ($2 when bought in pack of 24)- I haven't tried this yet, but by the taste of the ginger ale, I think this is gonna be awesome too!

Chorizo Seco by Charlito's Cocina ($16.67)- I always like when they send meat in subscription boxes, it gives the box more of a gourmet feel. This was really good also. I had it thinly sliced on a baguette like the card said, and it packed in a lot of flavor. I'll also try it with scrambled eggs. It feels really high quality.

A pack of 2 chocolate Bon Bons by Fine & Raw Chocolate ($8)- Dang, this is expensive chocolate. It tasted good for chocolate, but I expected more by how much it costs. Still good though.

Drunken Monkey Jam by The Jam Stand ($10)- Yum! This was really good jam. I like how the only ingredients were bananas, sugar, lime, and a splash of rum. It was sweet but not to sweet. Again, you could taste all of the ingredients. I might try to make this myself, but it probably won't turn out as good.

Cards with all the items on it. 4 recipe cards, and two stickers from The Fancy.

The total value of this box was $70.62, what a great value! This box was so fun to unbox, it felt like a Christmas present. This is one of my favorite boxes now!

Verdict- If you like food, and are willing to spend $39 a month, you should definitely subscribe!
